Our Faves – Young Students Trying to Make a Difference

These young students are excited to start their futures and make a difference! Take a minute to look at their GoEnnounce Student Pages and Fundraising Missions to see how impressive their motivation is towards accomplishing their goals!

Kelley Waidley

As a junior at Frostburg State University, Kelley is majoring in International Development & Spanish. Since January, Kelley has been studying abroad in Costa Rica. She’s become very passionate about helping those living in poverty in Central America. After graduation, her plan is to join the Peace Corps and teach English as a second language in developing countries. Later on, Kelley plans to get a master’s degree in public health and work for a non-profit organization. Kelley is so dedicated to this area of study that she can’t wait for the future to help, she’s already doing it now! Kelley recently started volunteering at La Esperanza Granada (a volunteer group in Nicaragua focused on children’s education) and now wants to stay even longer!  Check out how you can help Kelley and the students and citizens of Nicaragua here. We admire her work, don’t you?

Natalie Bahr

Natalie is a sophomore at Concordia University Texas and her career goal is to become an elementary school teacher to help make a positive impact on lives of the next generation. One of Natalie’s recent accomplishments was being accepted to an intensive study abroad program in the heart of Shanghai, China! Here she will be able to immerse herself in the culture and society, while picking up eight credits towards her degree! She thinks the knowledge and skills she will acquire on this trip will make her an even more amazing teacher, and we do too! Since studying abroad can be quite pricey she just needs a litte assistance in getting there!  Visit her Mission to read more about Natalie’s trip to Shanghai and see if her story tugs at your heart!

Elisha Allred

With big dreams to become a pediatric occupational therapist one day, Elisha is doing everything she can to make this happen.  Elisha’s career inspiration comes from watching the way therapists took care of her younger brother, who has down syndrome.  Growing up, while he was at therapy sessions, Elisha fell in love with the hands on way therapists can make a difference!   Elisha’s recently been accepted to her dream school –  Concordia University AND she’s already secured a track and field scholarship, a music scholarship, and a merit scholarship! Can we say IMPRESSIVE!! But even with these scholarships she is still looking for some assistance to cover the cost of her school and training with an Olympic track coach! We are so impressed by Elisha and what she’s accomplished at such a young age! Take a look for yourself here!
