Our “GoEnnounce Yourself” Scholarship, sponsored by Upromise, awards one student $500 each month! This award goes to a student who’s doing a great job showcasing who he/she is, by sharing school related e-nnouncement updates with Followers on their GoEnnounce Student Page. Our “GoEnnounce Yourself” Scholarship recipient provided by Upromise for the month of October is… Maria Quiroz!
A senior at Celina High School, this dedicated student balances her time between her studies and her passion for volunteering. Heavily involved in school, Maria enjoys showing her spirit, from cheering on her classmates at sporting events, to joining many clubs and organizations. She integrates her love for service in the clubs and organizations she participates in. Through FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) and Clothe-a-Child, Maria is able to further help her community. Her leadership will undoubtedly benefit her, as she pursues her goal to be the first in her family to earn a doctorate. Unsure of what she plans on studying, Maria’s favorite subjects are math and science. Maria also plans on gaining citizenship, and assisting her family in becoming citzens. Overall, she aims to give back to her mother for the hardwork and love she’s shown her. It’s heartwarming to see a student who recognizes such importance in helping others. Keep it up, Maria; we can see you’re working to truly make a difference!
During the month of October, Maria showcased her involvement in the community. In one of her e-nnouncments, she highlights her FCCLA team’s accomplishment of collecting 910 cans to donate for the State Fair. This earned the Celina High school FCCLA team second place for the total amount of cans donated. That’s impressive, and will no doubt be a blessing to many people! Just a few days after the State Fair, Maria joined her FCCLA team and participated as part of the clean up crew for the Balloon Festival, another amazing event in her community. One of Maria’s most inspirational accomplishments for the month of October was her participation in a community event, Clothe-A-Child, three Saturdays in a row! One of her E-nnouncements, details the joy it gave her to see the children’s appreciation for the ability to get new school clothes. Did we mention she also woke up on Saturday at 4am, that’s dedication. Congrats again, Maria, we can’t wait to see you reach your future goals!
