Our “GoEnnounce Yourself” Scholarship, sponsored by Upromise, awards one student $500 each month! This award goes to a student who’s doing a great job showcasing who he/she is, by sharing school related e-nnouncement updates with Followers on their GoEnnounce Student Page. Our “GoEnnounce Yourself” Scholarship recipient provided by Upromise for the month of August is…Eleni Aneziris!
A senior at Ward Melville High School, this devoted student spends her time at school being the co-president for the Literary Magazine, section editor for the school’s newspaper, and being the co-president of Women’s Forum. Her interest centers around English, which she plans on majoring in college, having received multiple awards for her writing. These include the Grand Champion of the Walt Whitman Birthplace Young Poets Contest and the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards Gold Key for Poetry. Eleni is well rounded in the arts; as well as receiving awards for her writing, she pursues visual art in the form of painting and drawing, and the performing arts, playing piano and singing. With all this, she still manages to be an AP Scholar with Distinction!
For the duration of the month of August Eleni has avidly been keeping updates that showcase her devotion to the arts, reading, and social projects. Eleni’s social activism blog , promoting attention for social inequality, has recently hit 1,00 followers. Wow, great work Eleni! Throughout the month she showed the progression of a painting which spanned at least 3 weeks (it’s a must see!). This dedication shows her ability as well as determination to follow through with projects that she begins. Eleni is also working on her research project for the Intel Science Talent Search. While most students would wait till closer to its due date, which is in November, Eleni has already finished her intro and discussion section! Her passion for knowledge comes in the form of reading, which she continuously displayed through the e-nnouncements of the books she read in August. Some of the titles included Jane Eyre, After Dark, and The Bell Jar. The consistent reading shows her love for the English realm and it’s work.
Eleni plans to major in her favorite subject, English, as well as feed her interest in psychology through research projects in clinical psychology. She plans on joining music groups and publications in college. She’s on her way there, working on her application essays and visiting the University of Chicago. With the zeal she puts towards every effort, we believe in Eleni!
