A huge congratulations goes out to our Abroad101 Student of the Week, Taneisha Brown! Taneisha is a junior at Cottley College studying psychology. She earned her associate’s degree in 2014 and will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in 2017. While at school she is involved with the Anime Club and Feminist Majority Foundation. On top of Taneisha’s extracurricular involvement, she has been recognized academically by making the Dean’s List, being part of the National Technical Honor Society, and having a prose entry selected at Cottey’s College Writing Awards Ceremony. While not in school you can find her studying Korean, reading comic books, or trying DIY crafts. She is a very well rounded student and her love for Korean language and culture has led her to take a chance in studying abroad in South Korea for a semester of her senior year.
She will be studying abroad with The Education Abroad Network where she will be immersed in the cultural differences that will aid with her future aspirations to be a child and family social worker that works with minorities. By studying abroad in South Korea it will give Taneisha the skills to be culturally sensitive and aware. To help her reach this goal Taneisha is raising her own funds and applying for scholarships, such as the CLS Program, but even so still needs help! Taneisha has started a fundraising Mission to raise money for textbooks, a student visa, daily expenses, airfare, and tuition. Help Taneisha have an experience like no other and visit her Mission here!
