A huge congratulations goes out to our Abroad101 Student of the Week, Hillary Herbruck! Hillary is currently in her senior year at the University of Michigan Flint and is studying international business with minors in Spanish and international relations. Following her graduation, Hillary hopes to work in a Spanish speaking country through mission programs, as she aspires to help people from different cultures communicate and work together. Along with helping others, traveling an being immersed in new and diverse cultures has always been one of Hillary’s greatest passions. Before she started school in Michigan, Hillary completed volunteer work at an orphanage in La Serena, Chile. As Hillary is approaching graduation, she hopes to synthesize her education and begin to consider her career course in helping businesses and people of different cultures interconnect. While Hillary already speaks Spanish, she hopes to widen her vocabulary and expand her dialectical knowledge by spending time in school in Salamanca, Spain.
Hillary has recently been accepted to spend her summer studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain through a program called ISA (International Study Abroad). Hillary will spend the upcoming summer studying Spanish, history, and other cultural courses at the University of Salamanca. Hillary genuinely loves the Spanish language and Spanish culture and believes that this experience will considerably advance her linguistic skills. Hillary wants to take advantage of the rare study abroad opportunity in which she can visit another country, experience life as a local, and become a more independent and professional individual. While Hillary has been working three jobs to cover the vast financial burden of the program, she needs a bit of help with the tuition and other expenses that she will incur.
