A big round of applause goes to our 71st Abroad101 Student of the Week, Melissa Ortiz! Melissa is a freshman at Cleveland State University, where she is working towards a bachelors degree in nursing. When Melissa is not in school she takes time to volunteer at the Fairview Hospital and has accumulated over 400+ hours thus far, way to go, Melissa! One of her major aspirations has always been to study abroad and she’s just earned the chance! so studying abroad has been something that she has wanted to do and she wants to travel to Australia. She will have the opportunity of going to one of the top 5% of universities in the world while there to further her nursing degree.
Melissa is heading to Australia, where she will be studying at Griffith University in Gold Coast, Queensland. This university is in the top 5% of schools, with a high quality of education and very advanced technology. She will be traveling with USAC, the Universal Service Administration Company during the study abroad trip. The duration of the trip will last last from Spring of 2017 until June of that year. This trip will afford Melissa the opportunity to further her career, create lifelong memories, and allow her to experience a different culture, making her into a more well rounded individual. To help make this chance a reality she is working two part time jobs while attending school full time but still needs a little help to get there. The funds she is currently raising will cover everything from airfare, food, and transportation. Check out her fundraising Mission here.
The Abroad101 Student of the Week initiative awards a student who created a Mission for a study abroad program on GoEnnounce with a donation to their fundraiser. Learn more about this partnership from Abroad101 CEO Mark Shay and GoEnnounce co-founder Melissa Davis here.
