Our 69th Abroad101 Student of the Week sponsorship goes to a Mika Bengal, way to go Mika! She is a junior studying apparel design and production at Colorado State University. While at school she works with organizations on campus and you can usually find her in a sewing lab during her free time! For most of her life she has been passionate about drawing and painting, which inspired her major. Mika enjoys being able to create things with the use of her hands and someday wants to illustrate for a fashion designer overseas. Since Mika already has a desire to travel and work internationally, it only makes sense for her to jump on the opportunity she has been offered to study abroad.
Mika has been fascinated with the thought of studying abroad since her freshman year and was recently accepted to a host university of Yonsei at Seoul. She has been longing to learn more about Korean culture ever since she found a local church that offered classes! The expenses as one can imagine are no easy feat and as a part time worker, as well as a student, Mika needs assistance in being able to fund this amazing opportunity. She is doing her part to cover most expenses but the funds she is raising are going to help her book the flight to get to South Korea. Check out Mika’s Mission here and help her achieve a dream that has been in the works for quite some time!
The Abroad101 Student of the Week initiative awards a student who created a Mission for a study abroad program on GoEnnounce with a donation to their fundraiser. Learn more about this partnership from Abroad101 CEO Mark Shay and GoEnnounce co-founder Melissa Davis here.
