Abroad101 Student of the Week #0065 – Aislyn Keyes

Screen Shot 2015-10-31 at 1.29.32 PMA big congrats to our  Abroad101 Student of the Week, Aislyn Keyes. Aislyn is a junior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities where she is participating in a Intercollege Program with a focus on Spanish and sustainability studies with a minor in marine biology. In accordance with her studies she is the vice president of Tau Sigma Honor Society, as well as an officer of the Marine Biology Club. In her spare time she enjoys diving! Plus, she highlights her academic success on her Student Page which includes being in a honor’s program as well as on the dean’s list. Within this honor’s program she works with an aquatics,  plant, and fish lab on campus in conjunction with being a intern at the Midwest School of Diving. Aislyn is also hard at work trying to get her Dive Master certification, which takes her one step closer to her future plans of working in shark conservation and advocacy in Latin American countries. Not to mention triggered her interest of  studying abroad in Costa Rica!

The CIEE Sustainability and Environment Program has offered Aislyn the opportunity to travel to Monteverde, Costa Rica for a semester. While in Monteverde she will be able to take classes, do fieldwork, take two field trips, do research, and have an internship. What an experience! This is a great stepping stone for her future plans and will provide her with experience in sustainability, which is exactly what she needs! To be able to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity she is raising funds to allow her to go to Costa Rica for her spring semester. The funds will cover things from airfare, books, and all the equipment she will need to live in the rainforest for 4 months. This is a life changing experience that will help shape and better prepare her for her future endeavors. Therefore we encourage you to take a look at her Mission Page and show your support!
