Our Abroad101 Student of the Week is Kathryn Booker, a junior at the University of North Texas. While at school Kathryn has been on the Dean’s List for the past two years. Not only are academics a priority but she is also a resident assistant on her campus, the lead ambassador for the Center of Leadership and Service, and the vice president of the Chiropractors of Tomorrow Club! Kathryn’s future plans include moving to a Spanish speaking country after graduation and return home to attend chiropractic school afterwards.
Being a Spanish major, Kathryn has a serious passion to become fluent in Spanish and believes that studying abroad (in a Spanish speaking country) will help her achieve this goal! This opportunity for her to experience the culture, language and people of Spain is something Kathryn looks forward to tremendously. She will be attending a program with the International Studies Abroad to successfully study in Spain, which will also allow her to spend 5 months in Europe during that time. While in Spain she will be attending the Universidad the Salamanca to pursue her studies. However, this exciting and worthwhile study abroad trip is costly, therefore Kathryn’s fundraising will go towards tuition, program fees, travel costs, plus housing and meals. With costs piling up she is also saving up on her own as well as taking advantage of scholarships. Kathryn wants to become a better cultured and well-rounded persons and this experience will truly help her with that. Check out her Mission here, she’s even created an awesome video to share her story!
The Abroad101 Student of the Week initiative awards a student who created a Mission for a study abroad program on GoEnnounce with a donation to their fundraiser. Learn more about this partnership from Abroad101 CEO Mark Shay and GoEnnounce co-founder Melissa Davis here.
