Our Abroad101 Student of the Week award goes to Gina Charley, a junior from California Baptist University. Gina is an English major with a minor in creative writing. She is fascinated by other cultures and has future plans to help others by teaching abroad. She also has aspirations to one day use her love of writing and discoveries from traveling the world to publish her own novel.

In high school Gina fell in love with Japan through anime (cartoons) and manja (comics) and it has been a goal of her’s to visit there ever since. We’re happy to e-nnounce this dream is becoming a reality for Gina! She was recently accepted to study abroad in Beppu, Japan this summer with International Studies Abroad (ISA). During her time in Japan, Gina will have the opportunity to learn Japanese and become immersed in the culture. This experience will no doubt help her reach her future goal of teaching in Japan after gradation. To learn more about Gina’s upcoming adventure and her accomplishments to get there please visit her Mission here.

The Abroad101 Student of the Week initiative awards a student who created a Mission for a study abroad program on GoEnnounce with a donation to their fundraiser. Learn more about this partnership from Abroad101 CEO Mark Shay and GoEnnounce co-founder Melissa Davis here.
