This week our Abroad101 Student of the Week award goes to a junior from Hampton University, Ngozi Alston. Ngozi is earning a degree in English Arts with a minor in Spanish. She plans to take her studies even farther by becoming a lawyer with hopes to change the world through political and humanitarian efforts! Although this may seem like a big feat, we have no doubt that it’s definitely a possibility, as she is already very actively involved in community organizing and politics. She also spends free time tutoring Spanish at the Assessment Center at Hampton University.
But before she conquers the world, she wants to see it! Ngozi has been accepted to a study abroad program this summer with the American Institute of Foreign Study (AIFS) at the University of Granada in Spain! Not only will she get to spend 6 weeks in Granada, she will also be visiting London and Morocco during her time abroad. This opportunity will give her the chance to be immersed in new cultures and enhance her already awesome Spanish speaking skills. Ngozi hopes that by exploring new cultures she will gain experience as a human rights advocate, which will help in her future endeavors. Since studying abroad can be a bit pricey, Ngozi has started a fundraising Mission with us to help with the cost! Check it out here!
The Abroad101 Student of the Week initiative awards a student who created a Mission for a study abroad program on GoEnnounce with a donation to their fundraiser. Learn more about this partnership from Abroad101 CEO Mark Shay and GoEnnounce co-founder Melissa Davis here.
