Abroad 101 Student of the Week #0102 – Hannah Strader

Congratulations to Hannah Strader! Hannah has been selected as our 102nd Abroad101 Student of the Week winner! Hannah Strader, is  in her 3rd year of college at University of Kansas where she is pursuing a bachelors degree in journalism complete with a minor in creative writing. Not only is she an outstanding writer with a very creative mind, Hannah is part of the “Quill and Scroll”, a National Honors Society based in journalism involvement. As an extracurricular activity, she is also mentoring other student writers from her university. She assists them with their web content, she keeps them on track, edits their stories, and helps them develop stories. .

Hannah knows that she is going to have to work hard in order to reach her future career  goals, which is why she has decided to take her chance and do an International Internship in London, England. Thanks to this internship offered by the KU Office of Study Abroad, not only will she earn six credits toward her degree, but she will also gain experience in the journalism field. In addition, she will gain real life work experience, which will help prepare her entrance into the workforce after college. Hannah has always been fascinated by the history and the architecture in London, and the British culture influences her writing. Therefore, spending time in London will be just the thing for this aspiring young  journalist. Not only will this time in London allow her to further understand and explore a culture that she is passionate about but for the first time, she will travel outside of the USA!

As excited as Hannah is about this upcoming adventure, studying abroad is expensive! Hannah has started a fundraising Mission to help cover the cost and promises that all the donations made to her will go straight to the KU CAPA internship program.

We wish Hannah all the best in London and hope that she’ll be able to make her dream come true!
