A huge “congratulations!” goes out to our Abroad101 Student of the Week, Idalis Foster! Idalis is currently a senior at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and is studying English and Communications with a minor in Business Administration. Idalis is an aspiring journalist and a soon to be second semester senior at MCLA. She is heavily involved with her school outside of her studies, as a member of the Crafting Club, Student Government Association, and the Campus Conversations on Race. Upon graduation in December, she is hoping to begin working for a news organization (online or print). Idalis will also be saving up to return to school to get my master’s in journalism in New York City, my hometown.
Idalis was recently accepted into a study abroad program at Kingston University in London, England in the Fall. She will be studying literature, journalism, and business in one of the biggest and most culturally diverse cities on Earth. This is her last semester before she graduates, so she is hoping to make it a valuable learning experience. This will be her first time in Europe, but she has always dreamt of going, specifically to London, to learn about their arts to their large, influential news media outlets. The total cost of the program is $16,900, so she would greatly appreciate any donations to help her with the expenses, including the balance after she receives some financial aid, the flight, and meals while she is abroad.
