A huge “congratulations!” goes out to our Abroad101 Student of the Week, Lexi Bedell! Lexi is currently a junior at Pacific University in Oregon, and is studying Spanish and Education. Lexi’s perseverance and diligent work ethic is demonstrated by her academic success, having made the Dean’s List almost every semester during her time in college. She was rewarded with both the Presidential Scholarship and the Pacesetters Scholarship, and remains involved on campus as the President of Animal Ethics Club of for the past two years. She is also a part of the volleyball team! Lexi fell in love with the Spanish language after going to Ecuador in January of 2015, which led her to become a double major. These steps have also led her to a new opportunity to further her studies in Madrid, Spain. She hopes that striving toward passion for and fluency of the Spanish language will further her career opportunities in the field of education.
As a part of her study abroad program this Fall, she will be studying the Spanish Language, Business, and Humanities program at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija. Within her curriculum there are many different classes that she would like to take, including Spanish for Written Purposes, Art at the Prado Museum, Conversation and Composition, Contemporary Spanish Novel, Spanish Theatre in the 20th Century, and many more. She also hopes that her trip will allow her to explore different parts of Western Europe, in order to immerse herself in new cultures. Lexi would appreciate any donations to help her reach her goal of raising $5,000 to save up for her housing in Madrid, and her flights.
