Abroad101 Student of the Week #0121 – Christopher Janiszewski

A HUGE congratulation goes to our 121th Abroad101 Student of the week Christopher Janiszewski! Christopher is currently a sophomore at UNC Charlotte studying Computer Science. One of his favorite thing is to travel and he was lucky enough to travel to Paris, Brussels, England and Amsterdam during his senior year of high school. He was also able to travel within the USA and he went to Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, and Hawaii. During his travels, he started to develop another passion, a passion for photography, and since then, he learned the art of photography and editing. From all his travels, he has created a portfolio of over one hundred original photos and videos. One of his goal in life is to photograph the world through his travels while making a living with his Computer Science Degree. Therefore, his ultimate dream is to one day being able to combine his passion for photography with his career in Computer Science.  He also hopes to have the opportunity to work and live overseas once he graduates from UNC Charlotte.

His short term plan is to go to Ireland to Study Abroad this fall semester. He has recently been accepted to a Study Abroad program in Galway, Ireland with a program called International Studies Abroad.  Through this program, Christopher will be taking courses that focus on Irish history and culture as well as math classes. The landscape of Ireland fascinates him and he’s looking forward to take pictures of it and to add them to his portfolio. He believes that studying abroad is a once in a lifetime experience and he hopes that through this unique experience he will gain not only independence and confidence, but also that he will return from his study abroad trip with a new perspective on culture, diversity, a great education and a willingness to learn.

But to Study Abroad can get very expensive, that’s why Christopher started a fundraising Mission. His program cost is very expensive and even though he has been working at Fitzgerald’s Irish Pub in Uptown Charlotte, NC and he has applied for financial aid and scholarships, it still not enough to cover the total program cost and airfare to Ireland. He will use all the money that he raises to help him cover the program cost.

We wish Christopher all the best in Ireland and hope that she will have a life-changing experience there!
