A HUGE congratulations to Douglas Sloan, our 110th Abroad101 Student of the Week winner! Douglas is a senior majoring in science, with a minor in Spanish, at Augusta University, in Georgia. He aspires to become a physician. Once Douglas graduates, his plan is to enter a medical school, and his goal is to practice in the rural regions of the United States. As he is minoring in Spanish, he hopes to be able to use his foreign language skills to help people.
To reach his goal, Douglas decided to go study abroad in Spain. He signed up to take three classes in the University of Salamanca, through a program that his University offers. He believes that it is a unique and amazing opportunity to be able to go study abroad, not only because he’ll be able to fully experience a different culture and environment, but also because it is going to help him understand better the fundamentals of the Spanish language. In addition of taking three classes, which he requires to complete his minor, Douglas will also be able to learn real life situations and broaden his academic and personal education.
Douglas cannot wait to study abroad in Spain! However, traveling abroad can be expensive, so he has created a Mission for his trip. He will use the money from the donations to help him pay his tuition fees.
We wish Douglas all the best in Spain and hope that she will have a life changing experience there!
