A huge congratulations goes out to Georgina Fairbrother! Georgina has been selected as our 103rd Abroad101 Student of the Week recipient! Georgina is currently a sophomore at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, in Florida where she is studying global security and intelligence studies. As her study field indicates it, she is fascinated to learn about the world and to understand the global problems that are happening everywhere, on an everyday basis. She also thinks that it is important to help others, which is what inspires and motivates her to do mission work. One of her greatest passions is traveling to discover new countries and experiencing new cultures. She traveled to South Africa during the summer of 2016 and she was very touched by this special country and its people.

Georgina’s future plan for the short term include studying abroad at the University of Cape Town, in South Africa, during the fall 2017 semester. She is really excited about this trip because by attending the “Veritas Christian Study Abroad” program, not only will she have the chance to study in a new and different country,  but she will also be able to do some mission work. It is important to Georgina to know that while she is abroad she will be able to help others. Most of her mission work will take place in the township of Gugulethu, a city that is famous and historical because a lot of workers migrated there during the apartheid.

With one trip abroad already under her belt, she knows she is very lucky for the opportunity to go to South Africa again and this time study!  As excited as Georgina is about this upcoming adventure, studying abroad is expensive! To help cover these expenses Georgina has created a fundraising Mission to help cover the costs and promises that any funds raised will pay for the program fee associated with going to South Africa, which include her tuition and the program costs of the missions and of her mission mentors.

We wish Georgina all the best in South Africa and hope that she’ll be able to make her dream come true!
